Fundations-Aligned Partner Reader's Theater · Level 1 Unit 3

2 partner reader's theater scripts for Fundations® Level 1, Unit 3: “Quack on the Dock” and “The Chick in the Shed”. Each script is written for two readers, Partner A and Partner B. Every word is decodable through Unit 3 or is a taught trick word, so partners can read the script on their own.

Each script opens with a watercolor cover scene that shows the two parts. The script itself is about 20 lines (20 per script), split evenly between Partner A and Partner B, with a few lines both partners read together. After reading, a Think and Talk page has 4 multiple-choice questions plus a “say it with feeling” fluency line, and a Write About It page has 3 written questions to answer in whole sentences. A one-page answer key covers both scripts.

• “Quack on the Dock”: Zack (a kid) and Tuck (a duck), 20 lines
• “The Chick in the Shed”: Chad (a kid) and Seth (a kid), 20 lines

In this unit — Skill: Digraphs sh, ch, th, wh, ck. Sounds: Digraphs wh, ch, sh, th and ck after a short vowel. New trick words: as, has, to, into, we, he, she, be, me, or, for (in bold in the scripts).

Use it for partner reading, fluency and expression practice, small groups or literacy centers. It comes in two editions, Color and Printer-Friendly (one PDF each, 11 pages: the 2 scripts with their question pages, then the answer key).
