Fundations-Aligned Partner Reader's Theater · Level 1 Unit 6

2 partner reader's theater scripts for Fundations® Level 1, Unit 6: “Where Are the Nuts?” and “Who Has the Mat?”. Each script is written for two readers, Partner A and Partner B. Every word is decodable through Unit 6 or is a taught trick word, so partners can read the script on their own.

Each script opens with a watercolor cover scene that shows the two parts. The script itself is about 20 lines (19–20 per script), split evenly between Partner A and Partner B, with a few lines both partners read together. After reading, a Think and Talk page has 4 multiple-choice questions plus a “say it with feeling” fluency line, and a Write About It page has 3 written questions to answer in whole sentences. A one-page answer key covers both scripts.

Scripts in this unit:
• “Where Are the Nuts?”: Chip (a chipmunk) and Beth (a hen), 20 lines
• “Who Has the Mat?”: Kit (a cat) and Jack (a pup), 19 lines

In this unit — Skill: Suffix -s (cats, dogs). Sounds: Base word plus suffix -s (/s/ and /z/). New trick words: are, were, who, what, when, where, there, here (in bold in the scripts).

Use it for partner reading, fluency and expression practice, small groups or literacy centers. It comes in two editions, Color and Printer-Friendly (one PDF each, 11 pages: the 2 scripts with their question pages, then the answer key).
