Fundations-Aligned Partner Reader's Theater · Level 2 Unit 10

2 partner reader's theater scripts for Fundations® Level 2, Unit 10: “Snail Mail” and “Play Day at School”. Each script is written for two readers, Partner A and Partner B. Every word is decodable through Unit 10 or is a taught trick word, so partners can read the script on their own.

Each script opens with a watercolor cover scene that shows the two parts. The script itself is about 20 lines (20 per script), split evenly between Partner A and Partner B, with a few lines both partners read together. After reading, a Think and Talk page has 4 multiple-choice questions plus a “say it with feeling” fluency line, and a Write About It page has 3 written questions to answer in whole sentences. A one-page answer key covers both scripts.

Scripts in this unit:
• “Snail Mail”: Jay (a crow) and Gail (a snail), 20 lines
• “Play Day at School”: Fay (a kid) and Ray (a kid), 20 lines

In this unit — Skill: Vowel teams ai, ay. Sounds: D syllable: ai and ay; homophones. New trick words: great, country, away, America, school, thought (in bold in the scripts).

Use it for partner reading, fluency and expression practice, small groups or literacy centers. It comes in two editions, Color and Printer-Friendly (one PDF each, 11 pages: the 2 scripts with their question pages, then the answer key).
