Fundations-Aligned Partner Reader's Theater · Level 2 Unit 5

2 partner reader's theater scripts for Fundations® Level 2, Unit 5: “The Missing Muffins” and “The Sad Plant”. Each script is written for two readers, Partner A and Partner B. Every word is decodable through Unit 5 or is a taught trick word, so partners can read the script on their own; the only exceptions are “dirt” in “The Sad Plant”.

Each script opens with a watercolor cover scene that shows the two parts. The script itself is about 20 lines (19–20 per script), split evenly between Partner A and Partner B, with a few lines both partners read together. After reading, a Think and Talk page has 4 multiple-choice questions plus a “say it with feeling” fluency line, and a Write About It page has 3 written questions to answer in whole sentences. A one-page answer key covers both scripts.

• “The Sad Plant”: Seth (a kid) and Dot (a kid), 19 lines

In this unit — Skill: Multisyllable words; prefixes, suffixes. Sounds: Multisyllabic closed words, compounds, ic / ick, affixes. New trick words: against, knew, know, always, often, once (in bold in the scripts).

Use it for partner reading, fluency and expression practice, small groups or literacy centers. It comes in two editions, Color and Printer-Friendly (one PDF each, 11 pages: the 2 scripts with their question pages, then the answer key).
