Fundations-Aligned Partner Reader's Theater · Level 2 Unit 9

2 partner reader's theater scripts for Fundations® Level 2, Unit 9: “The Plum Earth” and “Kirk and the Perch”. Each script is written for two readers, Partner A and Partner B. Every word is decodable through Unit 9 or is a taught trick word, so partners can read the script on their own; the only exceptions are “blue” and “green” in “The Plum Earth”.

Each script opens with a watercolor cover scene that shows the two parts. The script itself is about 20 lines (20 per script), split evenly between Partner A and Partner B, with a few lines both partners read together. After reading, a Think and Talk page has 4 multiple-choice questions plus a “say it with feeling” fluency line, and a Write About It page has 3 written questions to answer in whole sentences. A one-page answer key covers both scripts.

Scripts in this unit:
• “The Plum Earth”: Burt (a brother) and Fern (a sister), 20 lines
• “Kirk and the Perch”: Kirk (a bird) and Curt (a bear cub), 20 lines

In this unit — Skill: R-controlled vowels er, ir, ur. Sounds: R-controlled syllables er, ir, and ur. New trick words: picture, learn, earth, father, brother, mother (in bold in the scripts).

Use it for partner reading, fluency and expression practice, small groups or literacy centers. It comes in two editions, Color and Printer-Friendly (one PDF each, 11 pages: the 2 scripts with their question pages, then the answer key).
