Fundations-Aligned Partner Reader's Theater · Level 3 Unit 13

2 partner reader's theater scripts for Fundations® Level 3, Unit 13: “The Gnat Show” and “The Echo Chorus”. Each script is written for two readers, Partner A and Partner B. Every word is decodable through Unit 13 or is a taught trick word, so partners can read the script on their own.

Each script opens with a watercolor cover scene that shows the two parts. The script itself is about 20 lines (18–20 per script), split evenly between Partner A and Partner B, with a few lines both partners read together. After reading, a Think and Talk page has 4 multiple-choice questions plus a “say it with feeling” fluency line, and a Write About It page has 3 written questions to answer in whole sentences. A one-page answer key covers both scripts.

Scripts in this unit:
• “The Gnat Show”: Zack (a joke teller) and Maud (a friend), 18 lines
• “The Echo Chorus”: Kirk (a sparrow) and Ned (an elk), 20 lines

In this unit — Skill: ch = /k/, ph = /f/; silent letters. Sounds: ch as /k/, ph as /f/, and silent letters. New trick words: always, laugh (in bold in the scripts).

Use it for partner reading, fluency and expression practice, small groups or literacy centers. It comes in two editions, Color and Printer-Friendly (one PDF each, 11 pages: the 2 scripts with their question pages, then the answer key).
